Sorting Center

What we do in the sorting center

Humana Slovakia has a sorting center located in Martin. It was opened in 2005 and now has approximately 120 employees.
Most of the clothing for sorting is imported from other Humana organizations in Italy, Germany, Austria and the USA. Clothes are collected in collection containers located in public places. In this way, people can donate clothes they no longer use to a good cause.
In the sorting center, clothes are sorted into 3 main groups:

  • One part goes to HUMANA second-hand stores in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Romania and to wholesalers.
  • Another part is sent to Africa to be sold to local merchants at low prices. This satisfies countries’ demand, creates local economic activity and generates local resources for development.
  • The rest will be sold in Slovakia and India for reuse.
